Anonymous asked: How you meet first with Jason?
Jason was in Los Angeles shooting the “Pasha The Boss” video and I was living there at the time. I had been friends with Tempest for a while and they were opening Tempest South Bay Academy and they had hired me to shoot it for their website and the opening party. I remember him watching me jumping on the trampoline. We spoke a bit and had a handful of mutual friends. Later that night we ended up at the same party and I ran around dressed as spiderman and we got to know each other a little better. About a week later we were hanging out everyday, running around LA shooting and playing until he left back to Germany.
Marrakech Parkour and Freerunning Jam
Ive been to 44 jams in 20 different countries. All varying in size and scale and excitement levels. When Jason and I travel we try our very best to organize a jam wherever we are. We usually contact the local parkour and freerunning community through facebook and create an event page. A day, a time and a location is set. We try to go to areas big enough for everyone the groups can range from 30 - 110 people! Depending on the space and country, we try to avoid getting kicked out of locations by knowing their laws and regulations.
I know a few people made quite a journey to come to the Marrakech Jam. Some arriving the night before, taking 8 hour bus rides. There are usually hilarious stories of skipping school or leaving work to come to the jam.
Our journey was only 20 minutes car ride but somehow lost in translation, 2 hours and 3 drivers later we finally made it to the Jam! Over 60 people came from all over to be together, and that in itself is a beautiful thing to celebrate.
There was so much positive feed back and so nice to hear when someone has said Ive watched ALL of your videos.
In between shooting the vlog and meeting new friends I had a chance to shoot some photos. I have been playing with the idea of doing some tutorials for photography and shooting parkour and freerunning but not quite sure how to approach it.
At the jam the kids started to line up to get their photo taken off an arched structure. I found I really enjoyed working with the athletes in showing them their air form. What they can change, what tricks work and didn’t work. Letting me know what side they twist on. I enjoyed passing on this information of what I learn from being a photographer and working with athletes. Its important if you want to be a professional athlete that taking photos is part of the job. Knowing how to be a model and work with a photographer is ideal. It could get you more jobs and better content for exposure.
As the sun went down, it was time to go. It felt too short but I am so happy about all the new and old friends I got to visit and connect with face to face and in front of my camera.
